Horror in Virtual Reality

For Creepmas I received an Oculus Quest 2(yes, yes, I know I’m waaaaaay behind). I started browsing the store for any and all horror games immediately after the setup. Here’s a list of some of the best horror VR games available on the Oculus.

Resident Evil 4

$39.99

The best thing about this game is that it doesn’t rely solely on jump scares. The tension definitely builds with this one and leaves you on edge. If you’re not sold on the mere fact that it’s RE in VR then there’s a teaser for you available.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

$39.99

Explore the French Quarter to scavenge what you can, all the while wrecking zombies.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted

$29.99. Curse of Dreadbear DLC is $9.99.

You can’t go wrong with FNAF. See if you can survive the first few nights of your new job.

Arizona Sunshine

Currently on sale for $25.99. That’s a 35% discount off the original price of $39.99.

Killing zombies in the Grand Canyon state sans actual dehydration.

The Exorcist: Legion VR

$24.99

The sound on this game is spine-chilling. My heart rate was definitely elevated.

Death Horizon: Reloaded

$19.99

Death Horizon reminds me of something that I played on PC growing up. At times the zombies are a little intense so it keeps you on your toes.

Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife

$29.99

This game offers up something that the others don’t. In this, you’re dead and walking among the dead whilst trying to solve the cause of your death.

Affected: The Manor

Currently on sale for $6.99. That’s a 30% discount off the original price of $9.99.

Affected is the Spookier Haunted Mansion and I’m here for that.

Blair Witch: Oculus Quest Edition

$29.99

If you enjoyed the movies, then this one is a good one. I love having Bullet as a companion.

Dreadhalls

$9.99

Dreadhalls feels like an escape game. It’s a little claustrophobic and it’s very easy to get lost in these halls. The sound in this one builds the tension.

Face Your Fears 2

$19.99

This game isn’t for the faint of heart.

Crashland

$19.99

If you’ve ever wondered what it might be like to crashland on an alien planet then this is the game for you. The creatures aren’t as scary as others on this list but it’s a good time nonetheless.

Layers of Fear VR

$19.99

I enjoyed this game on Xbox so naturally I needed it in VR. This is the exact same game so if you are expecting something different, it’s not.

Lies Beneath

$29.99

The visuals in Lies Beneath are very distinctive. The gameplay is intense. I underestimated this game and almost immediately realized it.

Cosmodread

$14.99

This game is a steal! I love sci-fi. I love horror. I love horror based in space so naturally this one checks every box.

Drop Dead: Dual Strike Edition

$14.99

This game reminds me of the Night of the Living Dead which makes it even more enjoyable.

Zombieland: Headshot Fever

$19.99

Being a fan of Zombieland, this game is a lot of campy zombie-killing fun.

Naturally I haven’t made much progress in each of these games because I’ve been so eager to try them all out. So far, I’m loving these! They’re all unique in their own way and each of them has something that stands out. Some are action horror, some are tension builds and others are jump scares. The variety is awesome. Needless to say, I’m going to be busy this weekend.

*The sales on some of these are going to end soon, so act fast.
